Celebrating Poetic Pupils

Poetry by Heart provides teaching resources and inspiration to students across the country, giving them the tools to ‘explore poems and find the ones that speak to them’. The initiative develops confidence in students and hosts an annual poetry speaking competition for schools and colleges in England.

Pupils learn a poem by heart, not only with the hopes of raising the winning trophy, but for a wealth of benefits that help them at school and in life. The event develops independence, focus, learning skills, collaboration and ultimately a sense of achievement and an understanding of the poetry.

There’s no better place for finalists to perform their poem that at the iconic Globe Theatre in London. Students and teachers perform their poems at an annual event, sharing a piece of performance history with the game-changing actors, dancers, singers and speakers that have performed on that very same stage.

To celebrate the event, the National Champion is presented with a winning custom trophy. There’s also a special award presented to well-deserved recipients and a series of star performer medals.

Custom Acrylic Trophy Design

Gaudio design and manufacture a unique custom trophy for the National Champion. A fun heart-shaped design captures the spirit of the event with the Poetry by Heart brand at the centre of the award.

A heart-shaped profile on the top of the award is laser cut at our studio in Gloucestershire. This means a high-powered laser carefully trims acrylic into an exact shape. Bespoke manufacture means the design could use the exact heart from the logo instead of a generic option.

It sits on a solid aluminium base. Aluminium is hard-wearing and gives the award an impressive weight. For this custom trophy the aluminium doesn’t boast it’s staple silver surface finish, but instead is painted with a bright and cheery yellow featured in the Poetry by Heart branding.

UV print adds the finishing touches to this National Champion Award, printing the accolade title in clear, easy-to-read text on the base. On the profiled acrylic, colour-matched print is an eye-catching and on-brand design feature that makes this award stand out from the rest.

A Special Award

In addition to the National Champion Trophy is a series of Star Performer medals and a Special Award.

The bespoke medals feature a matching custom print on layered acrylic, with a super shiny silver frame to keep the print protected from damage.

For the Special Award, a contemporary custom tablet offers plenty of space for matching custom print. The winning recipient school of the Special Award, decided ahead of the competitions finale, has their name printed directly onto the face of the award. Customising an award with the winning school makes these awards truly unique, and a special memento for the lucky students taking the trophy home.

The Poetry by Heart competition needed bright and vibrant trophies and medals, well-deserving of a competition that gives new life to poetry, inspiring ownership of poetry in students, to help them experience poetry in a new way.
