The National Lottery Awards take place annually, and recognise the nation’s favourite Lottery-funded projects. The National Lottery raises £30million each week for good causes, and the awards, which are now in their fifteenth year, celebrate the unsung heroes behind the charities, which are improving people’s lives with lottery funding.
The National Lottery Awards have helped to raise awareness of the projects that the National Lottery supports and contributes to, significantly increasing visitor numbers and support amongst the public.
There are seven different categories in the National Lottery Awards, which include, ‘Health,’ ‘Education,’ ‘Environment,’ ‘Arts,’ ‘Heritage,’ ‘Voluntary/Charity,’ and ‘Sport.’ Voting is open to the public for four weeks, from the end of June to the end of July, to choose their favourite project under each of these categories. The forty-nine short-listed projects beat off competition from over 1,300 entrants to get to the public voting stage. The winners of each category will each get £5,000 to spend on their project, the chance to attend a glittering, star-studded ceremony, which will be broadcast on television in September, and the iconic, National Lottery Awards trophy.
The National Lottery Awards trophy has been manufactured with pride by Gaudio for three years, and is a perfect representation of the National Lottery brand. The trophy features the National Lottery crossed-fingers logo profiled out of brushed aluminium and set on a brushed aluminium base. The award is finished off with a layer of coloured acrylic to the base, which is printed with the event year and award category.
