Henry Bromberg Award for Perseverance – Part 2

In September Gaudio had some very important visitors. Pupils from Deerhurst and Apperley C of E Primary School who had designed trophies in memory of their friend and fellow pupil, Henry Bromberg, along with Henry’s parents, Laura and Bob, came to see how the awards were designed and created and to celebrate what would have been Henry’s 11^th birthday. After a briefing in the boardroom on the design process they then got to see how Design Manager, Stuart Sharples, created the trophy designs using high-tech software.

Next up was a tour of Gaudio to see how the awards are made including a sneak peak of one of their trophies being cut on the CNC machine. Finally, there was birthday cake in the boardroom, the chance to have photos with some of the famous trophies Gaudio have produced, and the reveal of one of the trophies for Henry that was almost complete. BBC reporter, Madeleine Ware, who has followed Henry’s story for several years, also joined the tour and the visit was shown on BBC regional news. Take a look at the video here.

The final design selected features a CNC machined and mirror polished aluminium heart with a break at the top to represent Henry’s half a heart. The inset crystal star is designed to catch the light and create rainbows as sunlight shines though. Rainbows were important to Henry as he said they would appear whenever he needed support. The trophies also feature, on the heart, Henry’s motto ‘I will never, ever, ever, ever, give up’, and his very own warrior pug logo on the base. The finished piece is a premium trophy worthy of sitting in amongst the most important awards we create here at Gaudio – we hope he would have liked it!
