F1 Silverstone Trophies Take the Lead with Gaudio
The 2018 British Grand Prix was full of twists and turns this year – in more ways than one. The F1 Silverstone trophies stood at the centre of a dramatic Formula 1 season.
Held at the iconic Silverstone, the race saw German driver Sebastian Vettel take the win for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton has won 1st place on his home turf for the past 4 years with Mercedes, but came a close second this July, missing out on the top spot.
The traditional cup, known as the British Grand Prix Trophy, undoubtedly stands out. An iconic piece, this ornate trophy has been awarded to winners since 1948. The trophies awarded to drivers on the day, to be kept in their own collections, needed to not only meet guideline standards, but also look impressive alongside a historical piece.
Awards in Pole Position
The F1 trophy is an especially exciting one for us at Gaudio. We’re a UK based company, located in Gloucestershire, and the Motorsports enthusiasts in the office were honoured to see something created by Gaudio head to one of the best tracks in the world: Silverstone.
We’re extremely fortunate to have a fantastic working partnership with Aford Awards, a Kent-based awards supplier, who worked with us on supplying the awards.
A modern design, each component sits to reach a perfect point. The Gaudio team are experts in design, racing ahead with innovative ideas. This is a dynamic award, with sweeping curves and fluid movement from top to bottom. We utilise anodising technology to create pops of colour on many of our metal awards; for this trophy, we used both red and blue anodising to suit the British Grand Prix branding.
Gaudio is home to extensive in-house manufacturing facilities, including a finishing facility. Our team ensured each base had a shiny polished finish; a perfectly smooth metal effect for engraved details. Engraved details are an extremely popular choice for award details, as they can incorporate sponsor details, award positions, and even individual names.
The 1st place trophy sits at an almighty 600mm tall. Assembled by hand, our expert team put together awards that certainly qualified for pole position on the Silverstone podium this year.
