A Trip to the Scottish Highlands for Glasgow Film Festival's Audience Award

2022’s Glasgow Film Festival saw sold-out audiences, and attendance from over 500 industry delegates, both online and in-person. Launched in 2005, Glasgow Film Festival developed an international reputation as one of the UK’s leading film festivals. At the end of a week-long celebration of all things film, festival-goers voted for their winner of the Audience Award.

The brand is bright and bold, with colourful icons and shapes. The body of the award is profiled from solid acrylic, so the piece is freestanding and perfect for picking up pops of colour.

The festival utilizes its graphics and logos across all communications, both online and offline, with application on everything from social media to printed posters. A bespoke design meant this striking trophy displayed brilliant streaks of colour for an eye-catching finish. Colour-matched print is a tried and tested method for supporting events, with the addition of sponsor logos, event graphics, and winners’ details on every custom award.

Winner of this years’ Audience Award was first-time director Lizzie MacKenzie. Her documentary ‘The Hermit of Treig’ follows Ken Smith who, for the last 40 years, has been living in a self-built cabin near Loch Treig.

The Hermit of Treig, described by audiences as “tender” and “wonderfully life affirming”, gives audiences an in-depth look at Smith’s way of life.  With no electricity or running water, he fishes for food, collects his own firewood, and forages for vegetables.

Smith made his first trip to Glasgow for 40 years with MacKenzie for the premiere of the festival, and MacKenzie later presented the award to him at his home in the Scottish Highlands.

The Glasgow Film Festival is an annual event in the calendar of some of the world’s top filmmakers, providing a platform for films of all kinds. The festival “provides a fantastic showcase for the best of Scottish film,” with a “long tradition of championing new talent“.
