Citizenship Award Puts Students in the Spotlight

Posted on: January 21, 2021

Last week we took a closer look at awards that celebrate the year-round efforts of teachers and education providers across the UK. This week, we’re celebrating students with the King’s Citizenship Award.

Designed and manufactured in-house at Gaudio, this custom trophy has a perpetual design for students to enjoy for years to come.

Perpetual awards are presented to more than one winner, typically over the course of several weeks, months, or even years. The award can be handed from recipient to recipient or stay in one place and admired by many. For the King’s Citizenship Award, this trophy takes pride and place on display at school, with each winner represented on the award with a name plate.

Our design team utilised layering to make this award stand-out. Layering different elements, introducing corresponding colours and textures, offers depth in a design to capture attention, and highlight the bespoke elements that make each award unique.

One of the many eye-catching features on this award is an element from the Kings’ logo, cut from aluminium and finished in gold, sitting on the face of the award. Depicting three figures, this is a showcase of how bespoke design can pick a design element and utilise it in the body of an award, while remaining within brand guidelines.

The complete logo, including the ‘Kings School’, is inset on matching gold, printed onto solid aluminium. Our in-house print can be colour-matched, and offers an accurate, crisp finish for any number of printed features; this includes logos, plain text, large-scale graphics and images.

A rich, gold finish on the bespoke metal elements pairs with classic wood tones for the face of the award. Wooden components are responsibly sourced and assembled by hand, and custom manufacture allows our team to source wood with natural features that enhance each piece.

The back of the award is home to space for individual winners’ names, added as name plates as and when the accolade is awarded. Made from solid aluminium, a cut-through design shows off the mirror polish finish on the front. The back has a brushed polish, for a matte canvas with subtle engraving to make the placement of each name plate quick and easy.

Name plates are self-adhesive plates with engraving, or print, and added to an award after assembly.  For businesses or events that need to order trophies before winners’ are decided, or have an on-going competition or accolade, name plates are suitable for addition at your convenience, without sending the award back to us at Gaudio. In this instance, as each student wins the Citizenship Award, they become part of the remarkable legacy the trophy represents. Having a perpetual award displayed is not only a symbol of the achievement students can aspire to, it also allows winning students’ to see themselves represented as part of their schools history.

Finally, the base of this award gives the final piece a distinct height, perfect for display, and once again showcases the gold anodised aluminium alongside the darker wood tones.

One award can unite individuals working towards the same cause. For this school Citizenship Award, this custom award will allow generations of students to recognise their achievements on part of a larger scale, and as part of their school community.
