Lighting Design Awards

The Lighting Design Awards took place on the 4th May at the London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane. The 41st awards ceremony had over 700 guests, including designers, architects and suppliers, and recognised and rewarded projects from fifteen countries. The Lighting Design Awards is the most prestigious awards ceremony recognising the impact that lighting plays in architectural projects and art installations, and as such is a global event with guests travelling from around the world.

Gaudio has been honoured to produce the awards for this inspirational and creative event for three years. The awards themselves are a perfect representation of the event logo – a black-painted aluminium tablet, curved at one corner, with full colour print of the event logo, category, winners’ details and sponsors’ details. There were seventeen categories, including, ‘Lighting Designer of the Year,’ ‘Architect of the Year,’ ‘Lighting Design Practice of the Year,’ and ‘Light Art Project of the Year,’ amongst others. The top individual prize of ‘Lighting Designer of the Year’ was won by Suzan Tillotson of Tillotson Design Associates. With over twenty years’ experience in the lighting design industry, she says, “lighting design is always about how to create a beautiful and quality environment within the criteria you are given. I don’t know how you can design architecture without thinking about how light interacts with materials”.

The Gaudio team loves creating unique, bespoke awards, but it is always a particular joy to create something for another creative industry, recognising and rewarding the achievements of other designers.
